Sidewalk Steps Become a Driveway
Mr. T had been confined to a wheelchair for several years now. He had not left his home in months, as was the case each year when the seasons would change and the weather became harsh. Despite having a ramp down from his front door, three steps from an old sidewalk posed an obstacle that Mr. T could not traverse.
A professional modification plan was proposed which called for a driveway that would not only allow Mr. T to come and go as he pleased, but also allowed for a vehicle to pull onto the concrete pad from the street so that Mr. T had access into and out of a vehicle from the safety of the driveway.
No longer would Mr. T or his caregivers have to endure the risks and safety issues associated with boarding into a vehicle from the street curb.
The photos to the left show how this modification work "paved the way" for Mr. T’s new entrance.
The wide driveway-like path leads from the bottom of Mr. T’s existing ramp and connects directly to the street.
Now Mr. T can come and go as he pleases.
