Owner and President Terry Donovan understands firsthand the difficulties involved in adapting the home environment for a loved one. In November of 2007, his mother suffered a massive stroke. Soon after, Terry, his siblings and his father made the difficult, but necessary decision to move his mother to a skilled nursing facility.
Terry’s mother handled many of life’s details, and in her absence, the toll on his father became too great. Over the next couple of years, Terry’s father ended up in the hospital with pneumonia several times. In March of 2010, he underwent a difficult hip replacement surgery but remained resolute in his desire to continue living in the family home.
Terry researched his options and consulted with his father’s physician and therapists. He then took his 28+ years of residential construction and ADA adaptability experience and went about making the adjustments necessary to keep his father safe and comfortable at home.
Live Well was born of Terry’s desire to help others who face the challenging task of making the home environment safe for their disabled or aging loved ones. “We understand that every situation is different,” says Terry. “That’s why we partner with professional therapists and other healthcare providers to help people of all abilities live as independently as possible in their own home, where they prefer to be.”
